Concession for Eco-Tourism
Nikolov Pioneros
The Nikolov Pioneros ecotourism concession (EC) is driven by the Civil Association for the promotion of Nikolov Pioneros Ecotourism of the Abiseo River, which aims to promote sustainable tourism development in the 2,075.80 hectares of forests covered by the area.
The Nikolov Pioneros EC proposal has great tourism potential, as it is located in the buffer zone of the Rio Abiseo National Park, and is home to extensive tropical premontane primary forests. It is an area very rich in biological (flora and fauna), water and landscape resources, which will allow the connectivity of its ecosystems with other conservation units; encouraging the participation of local communities involved directly and indirectly in the tourism activity of the Abiseo destination; and developing responsible ecotourism in harmony with nature.
It is home to the jaguar (Panthera onca), the kinkajou (Potos flavus), the South American tapir (Tapirus terrestris), the red howler monkey (Alouatta seniculus), and a great diversity of amphibians.
